Around the Leagues: Wales internationals in round two of Super League and the Championship

In a new series, we take a look at how Wales internationals fared in round two of Super League and the Championship with their respective clubs.

Four Wales players took to the field in Super League.

For St Helens, Regan Grace played the full 80 minutes and grabbed a try in the first-half, while Morgan Knowles made an appearance off the interchange bench.

Ben Flower, meanwhile, played a part in the first Super League fixture to be played outside of Europe, starting at prop and scoring a try in Wigan’s victory over Hull FC in Wollongong.

Regan Grace scored a try for St Helens against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan

The final player to appear in the top tier was Craig Kopczak, who put in a sound performance as an interchange for Salford Red Devils against Wakefield Trinity on Friday night.

Lloyd White was named in Widnes Vikings’ 19-man squad for the trip to Castleford Tigers, but he was forced to withdraw through illness.

In the Championship, Wales’ record try-scorer Rhys Williams appeared on the wing in London Broncos’ win at Dewsbury Rams.

Dan Fleming started at prop and scored for Halifax, while Matty Fozard featured for their opponents Sheffield Eagles.

Elsewhere, Jake Emmitt appeared for Toronto Wolfpack in the draw with Barrow Raiders and Larne Patrick was an interchange for Leigh Centurions at Batley Bulldogs.

Danny Ansell and Rhodri Lloyd were both named in Swinton Lions’ 19-man squad, but their fixture with Rochdale Hornets was postponed due to a waterlogged. Rob Massam was also included in Rochdale's squad.

A number of other internationals look set to get their seasons underway in round one of League 1 this weekend.

North Wales Crusaders begin their campaign with a tie against London Skolars at Queensway Stadium on Sunday, while West Wales Raiders will host Newcastle Thunder on the same day.
