A weekend of rugby league in both North and South Wales

Something must give. It's the top of the table Welsh Premier League clash between Valley Cougars and Torfaen Tigers this Saturday at Treharris RFC (kick-off 2.30pm).

The two sides last met in the 2017 Grand Final where Cougars were victorious and now both sides are unbeaten so far in 2018.

Cougars' team manager Liam Price said: "This Saturday we welcome Torfaen Tigers up to the Bull Ring. It's sure to be a game you won't want to miss between the top two teams in the league who are both unbeaten this season. Kick off is a little earlier at 2pm, please come up and support the lads."

Tigers' chairman Matthew Cummins said: "We're all really excited for Saturday's game. When the fixtures come out at the start of each season, it’s always the one both sides look forward too. The Cougars probably start as favourites being current champions as well as playing at home but I have no doubt the boys will give it everything and hopefully come away with a result. Either way Saturday will be a great advert for rugby league in Wales."

In Cardiff, it's a capital derby between Cardiff Blue Dragons and Cardiff Athletic. Again something has to give way as both sides have failed to record a win in 2018. The match which has been coined "The Battle for Supremecy" kicks off at 2.30pm at Glamorgan Wanderers RFC.

The final Premier League game of the day, at Pyle RFC, sees Bridgend Blue Bulls host Rhondda Outlaws (kick-off 2.30pm).

There's a weekend of action in North Wales, with the up and coming A side facing Oldham-based side Higginshaw on Saturday at Deeside Leisure Centre (kick-off 2.30pm) with the first team hosting York City Knights at Queensway on Sunday (kick-off 2.30pm).

Crusaders A head coach Matt Robinson said: "With us looking to improve on our previous performance, we face a big Higginshaw side at home. The lads have put in the work in training and are raring to go on Saturday."

Sunday in South Wales sees a triple header of junior games between Bridgend Blue Bulls and Cardiff Blue Dragons at Pyle, Llanelli Knights host Aber Valley Wolves at under 15s and 13s whilst there's an under 13 game between Penlan Wild Stallions and Torfaen Tigers in Swansea. West Wales Raiders travel to Keighley Cougars for their Betfred League 1 match.
