Jonathan Davies to head up Wales Rugby League golf day for charity

Wales dual code rugby legend Jonathan Davies OBE is to head up a charity golf day at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on Wednesday 26th September,

to raise money for Help4Heroes, the Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby and grassroots rugby league in Wales.

It’s the brainchild of former England rugby union captain Richard Greenwood OBE, who now resides in North Wales and is a director of Wales Rugby League.

Greenwood says that he is “calling on all rugby legends, whether from league, union, or that magnificent band of cross-coders, who did so much to light up both forms of the game” to join Jiffy and himself in September.

Davies, one of the all-time greats, who won nine Wales RL caps and 10 for Great Britain, in addition to playing for Wales RU 37 times, will lead a band of superstars and sponsors in 22 teams on the Roman Road Course at Celtic Manor.

Those 22 teams of three male or female golfers will be joined by 22 Legends of rugby to compete for bragging rights on the course.

The format will be Four Ball Better Ball Stableford off full handicap, with two scores to count on each hole and the golf will be followed by a Gala Dinner in Celtic Manor’s Augusta Suite.

To enter this fantastic occasion and to play golf with the stars, please email paul.chambers@walesrugbyleague.co.uk or jrhgreenwood@btinternet.com.
