North Wales Origin select 2018 squad
North Wales Origin RL have announced their 2018 training squad following trials last weekend at Deeside Leisure Centre.
This side, independent of but supported by WRL, was formed last season to represent the North in three fixtures. Welsh eligible players were selected from the local community sides with the final game against a South Wales Dragonhearts ‘possibles’ team where the North edged the win and based on performance, contributed five players to the Dragonhearts 26-man training squad.

Representatives from North Wales Crusaders, Wales Rugby League and sponsors attended the trial.
Mark Robinson, head coach of North Wales Origin, said "We are delighted with the response of participants who have attended to this trial today, and this will hopefully be the beginning of creating a successful pathway for Rugby League in North Wales.
"Whittling the squad to 27 players proved to be a challenging task for the coaches given that we had in excess of 50 players registering for the Trial, each individual showed great promise and with the right guidance and support, can potentially be great athletes."
A committee has been formed to take the team further and formal interviews for coaches have taken place.
The committee’s vision is to build on this success and provide long-term opportunities for the home-grown League talent that obviously exists in the north, to be developed and recognised more.
This organisation will feed into the WRL structure and act again as a strand for selection for Wales Dragonhearts.
