Preview: Crusaders face Oldham in Wrexham

North Wales Crusaders host Oldham on Sunday (2.30pm kick- off) as they resume their League 1 campaign.

The Wrexham club are yet to win in the league this season after drawing their opening day fixture with London Skolars and losing at Hunslet.

Crusaders had Challenge Cup commitments in midweek as their clash with Featherstone Rovers was re-arranged for Wednesday night because of the weather.

Despite competing well in the opening quarter of the tie, Rovers blew them away in the second-half and ran out 66-6 winners.

As North Wales return to league action, their head coach Mike Grady has admitted that his side "need to get going".

"There are no excuses; we know that we need to kick on and build some momentum in the run of league games that are now ahead of us," he told Crusaders' website

"Oldham will prove to be another challenging game on Sunday. They’ve come down from the Championship last season and will be looking for a quick return.

“They are a well-drilled side who are tough to break down, so we need to perform at the top of our game if we want to come away with the two points."

Mike Grady's 19-man squad is as follows: Dale Bloomfield; Alex Trumper; Jack Houghton; Simon Atherton; Steven Roper; Ryan Smith; Jonny Walker; Lee Hudson; Aaron Moore; Brad Brennan; Stanton Albert; McGraff Leuluia; Tommy Johnson; Gavin Conroy; Alex Thompson; Kenny Baker; Jordan Case; Alex Davidson; Billy Sheen

If Tommy Johnson features, it will be the fullback's 150th appearance in a North Wales Crusaders shirt. He is currently the club's leading player in terms of appearances, goals and points.

Tickets for Crusaders' clash with Oldham are priced at £10 for adults, £7 for concessions and £3 for U16s. They can be purchased at the gate on gameday.

Meanwhile, West Wales Raiders were due to face Coventry Bears this weekend, but it has been postponed because of the Midlands club's Challenge Cup commitments.
