MEET THE TEAM: Morgan Evans

MEET THE TEAM: Morgan Evans

08th March 2017, 16:02

MORGAN EVANS is an international prop forward like no other. Yes he is big, athletic, brave and has a great offload. However off the field Morgan is studying a PhD in Mathematics and used to be a model. Whilst unusual, certainly for a prop, this combination makes him a very popular player with teammates and fans alike

With six international caps and selected by Wales Head Coach John Kear for the last three years, Morgan Evans is another strong contender to travel down under later this year for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Here we take a closer look at the life and career of Morgan Evans.

Morgan first started playing Rugby League at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni in tournaments organised by Wales Rugby League. Later when Morgan attended Bath University he played representative rugby league for both Wales Students and Great Britain Students.

Morgan's outstanding displays for the university representative teams and South Wales Scorpions in 2014 earned him a full international call up later that year.

Morgan is now in his fourth season as a professional rugby league player after playing for South Wales Scorpions in 2014, Coventry Bears 2015, University of Gloucestershire All Golds 2016 and returning to South Wales Ironmen (formerly Scorpions) in 2017. He has already scored two tries this season, the latest against Whitehaven last weekend.
